On a recent girls trip we realized how many little things done right make our travel lives so much easier and more enjoyable. Some things that once you have them make you wonder why you didn’t invent it, or at least own it, much sooner. Fasten those lap belts, stow your tables and let’s take off with this list.
Duffle Tote Bag/Weekender Carry-on- this little cutie is not only stylish and comes in all sorts of fun colors, but it’s also incredibly functional, which is the only thing you are going to care about once you’ve reached 10,000 feet and you are in need of your headphones to block out the sounds of that crying baby. We love how it slides right over your suitcase handle and has two easily accessible outside pockets for your cell phone and wallet. We also love that it zips closed so you don’t have to worry about something falling out mid flight. Plenty of inside pockets to secure all the in-flight essentials- iPad, book, glasses, snacks you name it. Oh, and also, it is only freaking $22!
Charging Organizer. Duh. I remember when my husband bought this I thought he was equal parts crazy and brilliant, now I’m just sticking with brilliant. Did I really just have all the Apple Watch chargers, phone chargers, kids gaming device chargers, portable phone chargers and all their different attachments just floating around in my bag? This is a thing of organized beauty. We keep ours fully locked and loaded and just toss it in the carryon for every trip knowing we are fully charged and ready for anything.
Speaking of... do you have a portable charger? No? So you enjoy fighting for the seat at the airport that has the charger attached to it or asking the waiter if you can have a table next to an outlet? Hopefully you don’t need this often, but when you do, you will thank your lucky stars. It also just offers great peace of mind, which in and of itself is pretty great. There are tons on the market so take a peak and see what works best for all of your devices and how you want to carry it.
Here are two make-up/toiletry bag ideas for you...
I especially love this Lay-n-Go Drawstring Cosmetic Bag for my makeup. My mom, sister and I have been using these for several years now, love them and have gifted them to friends. It’s like a small version of that popular lego organizer (also brilliant). You can fully see everything you’ve packed when you have it wide open, even that little perfume sample or tough to find tweezer, and then you just zip it up and toss it in your bag.
The SLIFOUE Large Capacity Organizing Bag I just purchased after being jealous of Anissa’s for my bathroom toiletries. I had a mess of a bag that everything w
as falling out of and was in one big unorganized heap on the counter and she had this cute little bag with everything collected in it’s rightful place. #bathroomgoals (well that just got weird now didn’t it?)
One thing that is now a staple in said bathroom bag is a travel razor. This is one of those items I don’t know why it took me so long to purchase. No longer a fear I’m going to slice open my finger on my regular razor reaching into my bag, and again, it can stay in there, already packed and ready for my legs next adventure!
I just did some quick math and if you ordered literally everything mentioned here (minus the lego bag) it would be about $120. This is the beauty of being thrifty. You can be fully prepared for all of your upcoming trips on the cheap and spend all that extra money on your travels!
